In contrast to conventional safety switches, solenoid interlocks have an extra locking mechanism which keeps the protective device locked until dangerous movements or functions within the machine clearance have come to a halt.
Increasingly frequently, solenoid interlocks are also being used to prevent a work process from being interrupted due to a guard door being opened. This contributes to even productivity rates and avoids e.g. lengthy restarts or the standstill of several interlinked production plants. The focus here is therefore less on machine safety and more on process reliability.
Solenoid interlocks from steute comply with all the relevant machine safety requirements and standards. In addition to the STM series for general automation, several series are available for explosive environments.
In connection with safety relay components or other evaluation units, the steute solenoid interlocks achieve SIL 3 to EN 62061 and PL e to EN ISO 13849-1.
